Buddha Kitty Glass is happy to announce the fall and winter class schedule. All classes are held at the Lorton Workhouse Art Center.


TEEN FUSING (FALL)

All skill levels
Instructor: Steena Fullmer Anderson
How cool would it be to make your own fused glass suncatcher or a gift for a friend or family member? Learn the glass fusing process from initial design to finished product, includ­ing cutting, shaping and firing glass. Experience various kilnforming techniques while creating your own works of art. (Meets in W-7, Rm.716) 

Fall Quarter (9 weeks)
Weds Sept 21 (4:30pm-6:30pm) Grade 8-11
Tuition: $215
Materials: $85 added at time of registration.

BEGINNING-INTERMEDIATE FUSING (FALL)

Create artworks from layering glass then firing in a kiln to a full, tack or slump fuse.
Beginning/Intermediate classes are great for students who have no previous glass experience or want a refresher on basic skills. Learn the art of kilnforming glass including basic principles of compatibility, scoring, cutting, fusing, shaping and coldworking. We will use sheet glass, frit, stringers and dichroic glass, while learning how to use glass tools. Students will learn design concepts and how to choose which glass technique will best accomplish their goal. Focus will be on process and exploring all the possibilities that can be achieved with glass.

Summer Camp with Buddha Kitty Glass!

An Art a Day: Media Madness Camp


Monday, July 14 through Friday, July 18, 1pm - 4pm, $200 plus $40 materials

Work with a different artist and medium each day in this unique arts camp experience.  Each artist is an expert in their medium and has designed a project to introduce kids to the history and practice of each art in an ideal way.

Monday: Steena Fullmer -- Fused Glass Mosaics - make a mosaic glass tile

Tuesday: Samantha Mathewson -- Handbult and Wheel-thrown Ceramics - make a functional clay vessel

Wednesday: Trish Harris -- Fiber Arts - make a fabric & paper accordion book

Thursday: Sarah Huntington -- Photography - compose, edit, and print photos

Friday: Beth Fuller -- Collage and Paper Arts - make a multi-part collage

Arts Around the World Camp

Monday, July 21 through Friday, July 25, 1pm - 4pm, $200 plus $40 materials, Age 6 -11
Travel to five different lands in five days to learn about history, arts, and culture around the world.  A different artist-instructor will present the camp each day.

Monday: Italy -- Artist Steena Fullmer will present a program about the Italian renaissance invention of millefiori glass.  Students will make a millefiori suncatcher.

Tuesday: Greece -- Artist Rosalba Negrete will discuss the history of Greek sculpture and architecture.   Students will make a ceramic model of a traditional greek village.

Wednesday: Japan -- Artist Trish Harris will lead students through the creation of the traditional Japanese Tea Cermony.  Students will also make a Kimekomi Ball.

Thursday: China -- Artist Daniel Nie will intorduce Chinese characters and students will learn Chinese calligraphy.

Friday: India -- Jen Stone will present traditional yoga movement and arts of India.

Fused Glass Ornament Workshop

Artist Steena Fullmer will help you learn the basics of working with fused glass as you make colorful holiday ornaments. It's fun!

Fused Glass Pendant Workshop 



August 11, 1pm - 4pm, $80 per class plus $30 materials, Ages 14-Adult Maximum of 10 people

Create your own beautiful fused glass pendants with Steena Fullmer. In this class, you will learn how to design and cut glass along with the basics of kiln formed glass. You will choose from a wide variety of glass to create your own beautiful and unique glass jewelry (pieces will be kiln fired by the instructor after class and available for pick up later). Classes will be held at the Round Hill Art Center in Round Hill, Virginia.
